The family Rainer-Schölzhorn
From Butcher’s Shop to Boutique Hotel Group: This is the story of the Rainer-Schölzhorn family. In 1978, Karl Rainer, a butcher from Vahrn near Brixen, purchased the land where the Berghotel Ratschings now stands. What began as a bold step into hospitality has grown into a small, family-run hotel group. Today, the Rainer-Schölzhorn family proudly operates not only the Berghotel, but also the Wellness-Sporthotel, the 5-star Tenne Lodges, the Guesthouse Rosenheim near the ski and hiking area, as well as holiday apartments and chalets further down the valley.
The Berghotel Ratschings opened its doors on December 1st, 1979 – just in time for the 1979/80 ski season. Only two years later, Karl Rainer entrusted the hotel to his children Anni and Hubert, who took over the day-to-day management and helped shape its future. In 1993, Anni met Werner Schölzhorn, whose family owned the nearby Guesthouse Rosenheim. They married in 1997 and had three children: Daniel, Eva, and Vera. And the next generation is already here: in September 2024, the family welcomed their first grandchild — little Damian.
